We are looking for a Database Administrator.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage large databases in cloud environment that includes but not limited to MySQL,
  • PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift. Install, configure, clone, maintain (upgrade and patch), and monitor databases.
  • Extract, transmit, load, and validate data from legacy systems to cloud systems.
  • Proactively recommend best database configuration practices to match performance and availability requirements established by the client.
  • Manage, support and maintain database technology and infrastructure, adhering to architectural guidelines and policies.
  • Develop, implement and maintain database backup, recovery and replication procedures.
  • Automate recurring or redundant database tasks using Python and shell scripts.
  • Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of legacy databases to new hardware and cloud platforms.
  • Provide the implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions. Perform analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Evaluate and research new database features, versions, and technologies.
  • Document database standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Work closely with peer DBAs, product development, project support, and technical operations to ensure delivery of database services within performance targets.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of DBA tools to improve the effectiveness of tasks such as performance monitoring and tuning, recovery, and database change management processing.
  • Work with application development teams to tune SQLs for efficiency.
  • Monitor production applications for performance and recommend improvements.
  • Work with application development teams to backup and restore test data.
  • Perform test data creation by de-identifying PII/PHI from production.
  • Participate in design/code reviews to recommend the design efficiency.
  • Provide 24/7 support for production systems.

Education Requirement:

  • Master’s in Science, Computer Applications or related field.

Experience Requirement:

  • 5 years of experience in Information Technology.
