The Solution Architect will work with Business Development and operation teams to design and develop pilot applications and environments that demonstrate capability in software development, data warehousing, security implementations, and cloud engineering in general.  Solutions will be built with open source and COTS tools and will leverage partner technologies and standard cloud engineering tools, such as GitHub, Tableau, Docker, Jenkins, Selenium, and more.

All of these solutions will be developed to the “pilot” state and will support a statement of benefits and capacity.  Occasionally, the Architect will be called upon to document the solution briefly, or to present the solution to potential and actual customers.  So written and verbal communication skills are important.

The Solution Architect will have solid experience with cloud and software integration, development, engineering, and product capabilities, mapping these to client requirements to architect the best solution.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develops solutions to address current or potential client needs
• Supports the sales team in presentation content, providing a SME role for sales/ AM teams
• Manages technical support activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation
• Render consulting and technical support services on project implementation support to the project deployment team
• Works to find solutions to customer problems using existing or new technologies.  Installs new products as a trial to solve problems.
• Responsible for documenting installed solutions, and removing them after pilot completion
• Responsible for pricing solutions in order to control pilot costs.
• Provide inputs and business justifications in support for future roadmap features that will enable sales growth and expansion in specialty areas or new segment opportunities
• Liaise with clients and business representatives to understand the needs of business
• Must be able to effectively communicate issues of technical nature to clients.
• Ability to set and meet targets is also very important as most projects have limited time frame

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an IT Systems Architect
• Experience developing solutions in AWS, with GitHub as the repository for Infrastructure as Code
• Experience diagramming cloud solutions to communicate architecture (cloud.io, visio, or equivalent)
• Broad understanding of information technology topics
• Proficiency with information technologies in a secure network environment
• Hands-on experience with building secure solutions to protect data.
• Managing the AWS data environment; CloudWatch and CloudTrail
• Building data pipelines with a variety of AWS data services
• Experience w AWS services like S3, Glue, RDS, encryption services, Athena, Data migration services (DMS), Quick Sight, CloudFront

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certification within past three years.
• Solutions architecture experience in an enterprise environment with an emphasis on data systems.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs
• Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability
• Comfortable with ambiguity and developing solutions when information is missing
• Flexible in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities
• Technically creative and open-minded
